My therapy

So my cardiologist tells me that to help reduce my blood pressure that I need to do three things:

First he states I need to lose some of this extra weight I am carrying around. Easy fix, go back on Weight Watchers and give up all that wonderful tasting but fat producing foods. It really isn’t that bad… Just requires a little more discipline and scheduling to allow time to cook and not eat out so much.

Second, I need to get more exercise …. Duh! It was a long winter with zero activities besides sitting at the desk buried in the computer working, or in my favorite position laying back in my favorite chair (with laptop on my lap, working) while attempting to watch a little tv. (wasn’t this season of American Idol the best ever?). Maybe this is why he suggested the first thing. I really need to find a winter activity that this old broken body can do…. I have promised myself to schedule at least two fishing trips next winter. I hope I can keep that promise.

Third, and he stated most importantly I need to reduce my stress levels. Wow that just increased my stress levels :( but provided no solutions to this third problem. Now some people go to therapist to help reduce stress…. Not for me… Others seem to like to drink their stress away … Not for me…. My favorites and really my only stress relief comes in the form of fishing.

When I am backing the truck up to hook up the boat I start feeling the stress reducing. The tension in my neck and body that I live with every waking moment starts to relax. Once the boat is securely fastened to the truck and I am on my way to the water my mind starts purging all of those work related thoughts. As I am backing the boat in he water the only care in my mind is whether I forgot the plug.
